Wheel Loads Spreadsheet
This project aims to calculate the loads that are applied to a car in different extreme cases of vehicle operation: braking, cornering, acceleration and bumps.
The loads produced are transferred to the suspension elements through the tyres. A series of geometrical calculations are used to obtain the loads on the tie-rods for a double wishbone and pushrod suspension system.
The loads are estimated for each individual case as well as for a combination of several cases (maximum braking + maximum cornering + bumps).
In addition, the spreadsheet provides a section for dimensioning the geometry of the tubes against stresses in the tubes like compression, tension and buckling with a safety factor.
