Intake Throttle Body Manufacturing

In this new post, the manufacturing process of the intake throttle body made for the MA22RT of the year 2022 is described. Also, some of the photos and drawings made during the process are shown.

The Intake throttle body was used by the team during the 2022 season and onwards. Since it was a part that was reused during the competitions attended by the vehicles of the following two years (2023 and 2024).

The design of the part is based on the need to combine the throttle valve with the restrictor duct in the same assembly. This order is indicated by the competition rules.

The shaft and the valve come from the TB of a conventional motorbike carburettor, as this was the most difficult to manufacture. The rest of the design was made according to these parts.

The CNC coding of the milling machine and lathe were done by hand. Other parts were made by hand.

The following photo gallery shows some pictures of the manufacturing process of the three main aluminium parts: bellmouth, middle block and restrictor duct.

To complete the assembly, additional parts such as the steel mounting plates for the cable support and the idler adjustment screw were fabricated.
